MARANTZ MELODY M-CR412 LAUNCHED

Marantz has launched the new Marantz Melody M-CR412 Hi-Fi CD Receiver today.

Hot on the heels of the Marantz Melody X, the company has just announced the Melody M-CR412. The compact hi-fi system boasts CD playback, FM/DAB+ radio, and built-in Bluetooth, all for under £450.

Built on the recently introduced Melody X Network CD Receiver (M-CR612), the new Melody Hi-Fi CD Receiver (M-CR412) is crafted with the same "superior materials" whilst maintaining the same small footprint.

Maximum power is rated at 2x 60 Watts, which is enough for most living rooms while quality shouldn't be an issue as the new player borrows parts and developments taken from the company's premium hi-fi components.

Thanks to four channels of high-efficiency, low-distortion digital audio amplification, you can connect two pairs of loudspeakers and drive them with independent volume control for each pair. You can even use the diminutive Melody CD receiver in bi-amping mode.

Additionally, the Melody is fully compatible with even demanding speakers, including 4-ohm models.

Connectivity is further bolstered by a USB-A input that supports high-resolution music playback of WAV/FLAC/AIFF (192kHz/24bit)/ALAC (96kHz/24bit), and DSD (2.8/5.6MHz).

Melody M-CR412 will take your digital TV or cable/satellite set-top box and a Blu-ray or DVD player connection via either of the two digital audio inputs. Furthermore, the Melody can automatically wake when sensing an audio signal from your telly and can be programmed to work with a TV's remote for volume, mute and source selection.

Finally, the Bluetooth connection enables you to squirt tunes wirelessly from your smart device.

Price and availability

The Marantz Melody M-CR412 is available from June 15th in elegant black or classic silver-gold finishes for £449.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
