Mcintosh Amps and More Get Roon Tested Designation

No fewer than 11 McIntosh products, encompassing pre-amps, receivers and integrated amplifiers, have received Roon Tested designation and, the Binghamton NY audio crew are pretty happy with that.
We love Roon's rich and engaging method of browsing, organising and, of course listening to our digital music library. That enrichment includes artist photos, credits, bios, reviews, lyrics, tour dates and composers - all wrapped up in a "surfable digital magazine".
Additionally, Roon is also a multi-room, multi-user networked audio platform that offers bit-perfect playback, DSD and PCM upsampling, multichannel support and Signal Path display. So, it's quite an advantage to be able to sport the Roon Tested badge.
Products designated as Roon Tested have been profiled and tested by both Roon and McIntosh for maximum compatibility. Roon will recognise these devices and send them audio optimised for their capabilities. The device settings in Roon are tuned to improve the customer experience. No fiddling with checkboxes or dropdowns, Roon Tested devices are automatically identified and configured out of the box.
McIntosh President Charlie Randall told StereoNET:
Many McIntosh customers have requested support for Roon and today we are happy to announce that all of our current model preamplifiers and integrated amplifiers with digital audio are now Roon Tested. All of these products were already full-featured units, and now with adding Roon Tested capabilities, they will bring even more value and enjoyment to their owners.
Rob Darling, Roon Director of Strategy, added:
We're excited to be working with the team at McIntosh to give their customers the best experience possible of their McIntosh equipment and Roon. Being Roon Tested will make it easier for McIntosh users to enjoy music while taking the technology of their systems to its fullest potential, from streamlining first-run set up to removing the complexity of configuring Roon DSP Upsampling so they can take advantage of the incredible high-res performance offered by McIntosh's digital designs.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
