More McIntosh Pre-Amps Are Roon Tested

Two more McIntosh pre-amps get the Roon seal of approval.
Both the McIntosh C53 solid-state and the C2700 tube pre-amplifiers have received the coveted 'Roon Tested' designation from Roon Labs. This latest news brings the American audio firm's total to 14 Roon-friendly products.
McIntosh's Roon Tested range benefits from the Binghamton brand's eight-channel digital-to-analogue converter (DAC), used in Quad Balanced mode. This enables the USB inputs to accept up to 32-bit/384kHz and offer support for DSD256 and DXD 384kHz. Additionally, the C53 and C2700 use the all-new DA2 DAC, with improved dynamic range and total harmonic distortion, plus support for DSD512 via USB.
Being Roon Tested means that the Roon software will recognise the devices and send them audio optimised for their capabilities. The device settings in Roon are optimised to improve your experience without having to select special settings and the like.
Get Roon
Naturally, you will need a Roon account to access the platform. But, once in, you will soon discover a user-friendly and engaging way to browse, organise and listen to your digital music whether from a streaming site, such as Tidal and, more recently, Qobuz or from your own library.
Also, Roon is a multi-room, multi-user networked audio platform that offers features such as bit-perfect playback, DSD and PCM upsampling, multichannel support and Signal Path display.
If you're already a Roon user, just head to the Identify My Device feature in Device Settings and apply the new information.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
