Noble Audio’s Shogun and Agis II Blend Samurai Tradition with Cutting-Edge Sound

Noble Audio, the Texas-based artisanal in-ear monitor (IEM) manufacturer, has lifted the curtain on its latest high-fidelity creations—the Shogun and Agis II.

These new IEMs, set to debut at CanJam Singapore on April 5, 2025, push the envelope in sound precision, craftsmanship, and design, with pre-orders opening on March 25.

Noble Audio claims that the Shogun isn’t just an IEM—it’s a statement piece. Crafted with 13 drivers per earpiece, the company says the model promises a finely tuned blend of power, detail, and artistry. The hybrid configuration is extensive and consists of a 10mm composite diaphragm dynamic driver designed for authoritative, controlled bass, while two bone-conduction drivers are said to enhance spatial perception and immersion. No less than six balanced armature drivers reportedly refine mid and high frequencies, and four electrostatic units are included to deliver exceptional transient response and micro-detail.

The Shogun’s 3D-printed resin shell is inspired by the Gusoku armour of the Tokugawa Shogunate, blending traditional craftsmanship with modern engineering. Noble Audio says that the spirit of the samurai is at the heart of its design, brought to life through intricate spray-painting techniques that aim to replicate the fine textures and layered depth of Domaru-style armour. The golden Oni mask at its centre symbolises strength and precision, while Menuki-inspired geometric accents echo the artistry of traditional katana hilts.

Beneath its intricate exterior, the company says the acoustic chamber is engineered to optimise frequency response for a balanced and dynamic listening experience that takes the listener deep into the heart of their music.

Also launching at CanJam Singapore is the Agis II, an evolution of a Noble classic. Noble Audio says the Agis II refines its hybrid technology with an eight-driver array designed for improved imaging, depth, and a more expansive soundstage.

According to the company, this model is engineered for audiophiles, musicians, and professional users seeking a balance of clarity, power, and precision. Each earpiece contains two Sonion balanced armature drivers for deep, well-defined bass, two Knowles balanced armature drivers to deliver natural and detailed mids, and two Sonion EST drivers to extend high-frequency response—a pair of Sonion bone-conduction drivers round out this well-specified model.

The Agis II’s housing is crafted from black resin with an art faceplate, and its cable is an 8-core design with switchable plug terminations, giving users greater connectivity flexibility.

Both models will be available for pre-order via Noble Audio direct and select retailers worldwide. The Shogun is priced at US$3,900 / £3,900 / €3,900, while the Agis II will sell for US$1,799 / £1,799 / €1,799.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
