Onkyo, Pioneer, and Integra Get Dirac Live Optimisation Tool

Onkyo, Pioneer, Pioneer Elite and Integra AV receivers to benefit from Dirac Live.

Swedish audio software developer Dirac has announced that it will be bringing its patented room correction technology, Dirac Live, to the latest AVRs from Onkyo, Pioneer, Pioneer Elite and Integra.

The room measuring and component optimisation software will soon be landing on the Onkyo TX-NR7100 and TZ-RZ50; Pioneer Elite VSX-LX305 and Elite VSX-LX505; and the Integra DRX-5.4 and DRX-3.4.

Dirac has been developing digital signal processing techniques to improve the sound performance of audio products in a range of different listening environments for over a decade since its formation by students studying at Uppsala University. Since then, the room correction tech has been integrated into everything from hi-fi and phones, to headphones and cars.

Dirac Live's room correction feature analyses the speakers and room acoustics to optimise sound quality via patented impulse response technology. The result, they say, is a more balanced sound, enhanced clarity, improved intelligibility of vocals and music, and more accurate staging. Basically everything you would want from your hi-fi or home cinema system.

This is certainly big news for Dirac as Onkyo, Pioneer, Pioneer Elite, and Integra together are four of the industry's largest and most well-respected receiver brands by volume.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
