Orbitsound P70w V2 Launched

Orbitsound, has launched its ONE P70W V2 wireless speaker and, again, we were there to experience it first-hand.
We were at the launch of Orbitsound's stunningly flexible, stylish and high-performance wireless speaker.
Following the impressive Air D1, naturally, the ONE P70W V2 is packed with innovative proprietary technologies developed by Orbitsound's British team of audio designers.
ONE P70W V2 Tech
The V2 is obviously an update on the previous ONE P70W, but loaded with the very latest Orbitsound tech – 'Transconductance Amplification'.
Transconductance works by the amplifier monitoring and adapting in real-time to the behaviour of the speaker drivers. This resolves incompatibilities between the amplifier and speaker and is the same tech you'll find behind Orbitsound's flagship Air D1 speaker costing £12,000.
You also get Orbitsound's unique and innovative Airsound technology. Airsound works by ingeniously splitting the central and non-central information in the stereo image to create a highly spatialised stereo-like sound from a single speaker. The added bonus to this is that no matter where you stand, you still get a great stereo sound.
Drive
The ONE P70W V2 contains top- and front-firing 2-inch Orbitsound MK4 drivers, as well as two identical side-firing drivers that channel the Airsound audio information.
A low-profile 5.25-inch integrated subwoofer is also present to fortify low-end performance.
Of course, we have spent some time with the new speaker and can vouch for both its clarity and the clever tech taking away the need for a sweet spot.
The 700 x 173 x 77mm (WxDxH) ONE P70W V2 can be used as a wireless music speaker as well as a soundbar; it even has two separate wall-mounting orientations depending on whether you want to mount it high or low on the wall. Furthermore, the logo badge can also be rotated for those of us that get twitchy when things don't look quite right.
Connectivity
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless connectivity are both present, as is an optical connection for your TV and a 3.5mm AUX socket for other wired connections.
Additionally, you can access Spotify Connect and Apple Music via the app, along with Tunein Radio.
Price and availability
The ONE P70W V2 is available now for £399 in two finishes – Black and Bamboo.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
