Philips 800 Series OLED TVs Available

Philips 800 Series OLED TVs are ready for release next month!

If spinning screens ain't your thing then perhaps the latest 800 Series OLED TVs from Philips might flick your switch.

Philips 800 OLED TV

Available in the UK as of July 2020, the OLED805, OLED855 and OLED865, will be available in 55-inch and 65-inch sizes.

The OLED805 (above) will be £1,500 for the 55-inch, and £2,200 for the 65-inch. Prices for the 855 and 865 yet to be confirmed but expect them to be upmarket.

Powering all of the new OLED TV models is Philips's 4th Gen P5 processor with AI smarts, along with Dolby Vision and HDR10+ support. Of course, all boast 3-sided Ambilight as well as comprehensive Android 9 smart TV functionality.

The all-new P5 picture processor promises a leap in performance over last year's OLED TVs. Thanks to AI technology and machine learning, we are told that you get the most natural picture possible.

Sound-wise, The OLED805/855/865 all feature Dolby Atmos decoding, the Dolby Atmos Virtualizer function and Dolby bass and dialogue enhancement. Philips also boasts that it's the first premium TV brand to include the DTS Play-Fi feature.

The only real difference between this group of televisions appears to be their stands, with the OLED805 models featuring dark chrome and chamfered whereas, the OLED855 and OLED865 (below) step out with a central support angled to the table, dressed in dark chrome and Muirhead leather respectively.

Finally, for that extra bit of pizzaz, Philips bundles all three tellies with a "premium remote control" - that means flush, backlit keys, in a metalised finish with the sides and rear wrapped in responsibly sourced Muirhead leather.

The range is available from July 2020 starting at £1,500.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
