PIEGA PREMIUM NEXT GEN LOUDSPEAKER RANGE UK PRICES

The new generation of Piega Premium loudspeakers is launching in the UK on Feb 1st. StereoNET has all the details.
The Piega Premium range of audiophile loudspeakers has just won a coveted Plus X Award in Europe for its unique industrial design. The range majors on high-range ribbon tweeters and slim aluminium cabinets with proprietary damping technology and machined aluminium plinths.
The new generation of Piega Premium speakers boasts a fantastic quality of sound – thanks to its new LDR 3056 high-range ribbon tweeter.
Instantly recognisable thanks to the softly curving aluminium cabinets and ribbon tweeters, the latest edition of Premium speakers is the work of Swiss audio experts, Piega.
Mastermind Kurt Scheuch's team of developers has succeeded in making the already immensely illustrious and aesthetic Premium aluminium columns and bookshelf loudspeakers even more audiophile.
The new Premium 701, 501 and 301 Piega speakers are the technical and visual continuation of one of the most successful speaker concepts produced by the Swiss manufacturer.

To refine their appearance, Swiss designer Stephan Hürlemann has fitted the front covers flush into the C-shaped cabinet profile, enabling them to blend perfectly into any room. The stunning finish of the polished aluminium reflects the loving craftsmanship that has also shaped the interior of the speakers.
State-of-the-art chassis technology gives the new Premium trio its breathtaking sound quality. While the two smaller models use the trusted Piega LDR 2642 MKII tweeters, the Premium 701 flagship range is the first model equipped with the new LDR 3056 ribbon tweeters.
The LDR 3056 tweeter system benefits from all important insights gained during the development of the Piega Line Source Driver and the second-generation Piega Coax System. The thin membrane has a newly developed suspension and is utterly controlled by mass-free damping. Piega says that, thanks to its optimised magnet system, new foil layout and the enormous effort that went into its development and manufacture, the system has an extremely high degree of efficiency, greater bandwidth and linearity and an impressive resolution.
The massive aluminium front panel of the LDR 3056 makes the transition from the membrane to the baffle board completely homogeneous.
Its deep mid-range speakers have also undergone many improvements. Firstly, the speakers are precisely calibrated to the new cabinet and ribbon tweeters. The MDS cone drivers are designed for especially long-stroke motions. Despite their slim cabinets and the correspondingly small diameter of 120 and 140 millimetres, respectively, they produce an impulsive and dynamic bass sound that stays powerful even in medium-sized rooms.
The aluminium cabinets have been improved further and play an essential role in the outstandingly precise bass rendition of the new Premium models. Compared to the previous speakers, they are 30 per cent more rigid. Their rounded shape prevents the occurrence of disturbing standing waves inside the cabinet, ensuring the clear, contoured, crisp transmission of all medium and low frequencies.

Premium 701
The Premium 701 is barely larger than its smaller sister model. It also uses a 2.5-way system. Two 140 mm MDS converters cater for the bass, one of the two also handles mid-tone emission. The newly developed LDR 3056 ribbon, used here for the very first time, produces the high tones. The Premium 701 can be operated in almost any room thanks to its dynamic and powerful sound.
Premium 501
This incredibly slim column loudspeaker, which is only 16 cm wide and about one metre tall, is the perfect partner for high-quality hi-fi systems in small to medium-sized rooms. The two long-stroke 120 mm MDS low mid-range drivers and the tried-and-tested LDR 2642 MKII ribbon, already praised in numerous test reviews, help the Piega Premium 501 to achieve a homogeneous, very detailed and spatial sound.
Premium 301
The Premium 301 is a compact loudspeaker with a baffle about the size of an A4 sheet. Behind the removable fabric cover, a 140 mm MDS low mid-range driver and the LDR 2642 MKII ribbon tweeter ensure homogeneous transmission of all frequencies from 39 to 50 kHz. Whether on the shelf, on a sideboard or a stand – the Piega Premium 301 is an illustrious and elegant sound transducer for small to medium-sized rooms.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
