PIONEER ANNOUNCES TWO NEW IMAX ENHANCED 9.2 CHANNEL AV RECEIVERS

Excellent value for money and superior sound quality are just two of the areas that Pioneer's AV Receivers have earned our praise for in the past.
We expect this trend to continue with the announcement of two new AV Receivers being added to its 2019 AVR lineup. The VSX-LX504 and VSX-LX304, which is the successor to the VSX-LX303 we reviewed back in April, will be available for sale later this year.
Both models incorporate the latest immersive audio formats, such as Dolby Atmos and DTS:X and IMAX Enhanced.
Both 9.2 channel receivers also feature Dolby Atmos Height Virtualiser which can create virtual height and surround effects from more traditional speaker layouts such as 5.1.
Likewise, each is designed to deliver a seamless surround sound experience with Pioneer's proprietary MCACC room calibration software.
The VSX-LX304 and VS-LX504 are capable of streaming music in several different ways, including FlareConnect, built-in Chromecast, DTS Play-Fi, Apple AirPlay 2, and via the Sonos platform.
Weighing in three kilos heavier than its smaller sibling, the 13kg VSX-LX504 also sports a more robust amplifier section, rated at 215 watts per channel (6 ohms, 1kHz, THD10% and one channel driven). It builds on the Zone 2 audio capabilities of the VSX-304 with Zone 2 and Zone 3 audio capabilities.
The VSX-LX504 also features hands-free operation with the help of Google Assistant. Furthermore, the VSX-LX504 is Dolby Vision and HDR10 compatible as well as being capable of upscaling 1080p sources to 4K in addition to offering two HDMI outputs.
Enjoy a hands-free experience with the help of the Google Assistant for volume control, music skip, play and pause functions. There's no need for a remote; it's all just a simple voice command away.
High-Res Audio playback is also catered for via either a USB or network connection.
Both new models will arrive in Australia late 2019, and the VSX-LX504 will sell for $2,099 RRP, while the VSX-LX304 will sell for $1,599 RRP. NZ availability is not yet known.

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
