Price Reductions for Denon and Marantz in Australia

Good news for Australian consumers and Denon and Marantz fans as retail prices come down following the restructuring of distribution in Australia.
Sound United, the parent company of Denon, Bowers & Wilkins, Marantz, Polk Audio, Definitive Technology, Classé, HEOS, and Boston Acoustics, announced its intention to acquire long-established Melbourne based distributor, QualiFi, back in February.
Now that the ink has dried on the deal, Sound United Australia has wasted no time reducing prices on some key products from June 1st. Sound United says these changes are "in line with our goal of aligning local prices more closely with global parity as a service to dealers and consumers."
The price reductions are welcome indeed, with consumers long complaining about the higher prices of Denon and Marantz in Australia compared to other markets under QualiFi's distribution. Despite the cost of doing business in Australia being substantially higher than in other regions, SU has brought some prices down considerably.
John Martin, Director of Sales, Sound United Australia, told StereoNET:
We firmly believe in fair pricing, as evidenced by our track record with Bowers & Wilkins over several years. Our goal remains to give consumers competitive pricing and high value, but it's about more than just price. Customers also expect expert advice, before and after-sales service, and above all, a great ownership experience.
For example, the Denon X6700H 13.2 Channel AV Receiver previously sold for $6,199 RRP, but under the new pricing sells for $4,999. Similarly, the Marantz SR7015 AV Receiver now sells for $3,999 RRP (previously $5,190), and the Marantz PM7000N is now $1,999 RRP (down from $2,690).
The popular Denon Home wireless range of speakers' (review here) pricing has also been re-evaluated, with Home 150 now selling for $399 RRP (was $529), Home 250 now just $699 RRP (was $849), and finally Home 350 now $999 RRP (down from $1,299).
Martin continued:
We are very much about helping our retail partners deliver our extensive range with high standards of demonstration, installation and customer focus built into every purchase.
The integration of Sound United's Australian operations with the acquisition of QualiFi has been no small project. By all reports, it's been an immensely complex task integrating personnel, IT systems, logistics and much more, but now the dust is starting to settle, it's beginning to look a lot like it's full steam ahead for the company.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s.
