Roland VMH-S100 - Studio Precision Meets All-Day Comfort

Roland, a name widely associated with music production technology innovation, has introduced the VMH-S100, a new set of professional studio headphones designed for musicians, producers, and sound designers.
According to Roland, these headphones are crafted to deliver precise sound reproduction, exceptional comfort, and versatility, making them a valuable tool for audio production.
At the core of the VMH-S100 are custom-engineered 50 mm drivers that Roland says provide a flat and accurate sound profile. The company also claims an ultra-wide frequency range of 5–40,000 Hz, designed to capture everything from the deepest bass to the most detailed highs. The closed-back design is said to offer excellent isolation from external noise while maintaining what Roland describes as a natural and spacious soundstage, ideal for immersive studio work.
With a 30-ohm impedance, the VMH-S100 headphones are compatible with a variety of devices, ranging from synthesizers and audio interfaces to mobile workstations. Roland has also designed the headphones to be flexible in their setup, featuring a dual ear-cup jack for customizable cable placement. Comfort is another focus, with a durable yet lightweight frame and replaceable ear pads aimed at ensuring users can wear them for extended periods without discomfort.
The VMH-S100 package includes two detachable cables of different lengths (1.5 m and 3 m), a 1/4-inch stereo adapter for professional audio gear, and a carrying pouch for portability. Buyers also receive a three-month trial of Roland Cloud Ultimate, the company’s premium software suite. This service provides access to tools like ZENOLOGY, GALAXIAS, the Roland Legendary series, Zenbeats music creation software, and an extensive range of sound packs and jam tracks, allowing users to explore creative possibilities right away.
While their real-world performance remains to be seen, Roland is positioning these headphones as a professional-grade solution for creators seeking accuracy, comfort, and durability in a studio setting.
The Roland VMH-S100 are available now priced at £285/A$499.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
