UPDATE: Roon Coming Soon to Bluesound & NAD

Quietly added to the growing list of Roon Partners overnight, was the addition of the Bluesound and NAD logos as Roon Ready network players. While still stated as 'coming soon', this is the first confirmation that Bluesound will in fact work with Roon.

Bluesound's BluOS platform which allows for multiroom streaming in 24-Bit High Resolution and MQA compatibility, has emerged as one of the most popular solutions for whole home audio. Meanwhile, Roon has risen to the top as the ultimate platform for control, and the linking (and syncing in some cases) of various audio products throughout a home in an easy to manage interface.

Bluesound owners have been constantly asking the question about Roon compatibility via social media and the respective brand's own forums. Until recently no official word has given, with the most recent comment being "we're in talks".

Overnight the Roon Partners page was updated to list both Bluesound, and sister brand NAD (which shares the BluOS platform) as partners, but 'coming soon'. Good news for Bluesound and NAD owners, either way.

Blusound Roon Compatibility

Rob Darling, Director of Strategy at Roon labs said on their official forums yesterday:

I'm happy to announce that I've just gotten off the phone with the kids at Lenbrook, and we can now say that all BlueOS enabled devices from Bluesound and NAD will be Roon Ready in an upcoming release.

This is a really exciting development for the Roon Ready partner program, given the breadth of the Lenbrook offerings and the number of roles their devices can fill in a multiroom environment.

UPDATE 19th October 2016: A press release from NAD and Bluesound parent company Lenbrook overnight confirmed "NAD Electronics and Bluesound, manufacturers of premium consumer electronics, announced that they will become a Roon Ready Partner." The integration is expected to be live via a firmware update before the end of 2016.

Bluesound is distributed in Australia by Convoy International.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
