ROTEL RELEASES THREE NEW STEREO PRODUCTS

With home cinema sales a blip on the audio sales radar, and two-channel systems led by turntables continuing to churn steadily, Rotel is staying with stereo.

With three new high-performance stereo models just released it’s a fair bet Rotel is backing two-channel audio to the hilt.

The new trio comprises the RA1572 integrated amplifier, the RC1572 pre-amplifier, and the RCD1572 True CD player. The three come in a choice of black or silver finish and they will be available this month.

Rotel says the three models take their design cue from its flagship RA1592 integrated amplifier. So both the 1572 series integrated and CD player carry a high-performance Japanese AKM DAC chipset.

Rotel RC1572 CD Player

The new $1499 1572 CD player uses a Wolfson DAC that Rotel says is detailed and warm sounding, and ideally suited to decoding the Redbook CD standard.

Unusually, the CD player isn’t fitted with an off-the-shelf laser mechanism. It’s fitted with a custom-made mechanism. The new player has both XLR and RCA outputs along with RS232 control.

Rotel RA1572

The RA1572 integrated amp has Bluetooth streaming, IP control and better amp architecture than the brand’s famous RA1570 model resulting in what Rotel describes as its "best mid-priced integrated amplifier to date."

Onboard the 1572 amplifier is a DSD 32-bit AKM DAC, aptX Bluetooth, moving magnet phono stage, RS-232 and IP control modes. It's rated at 120 watts per channel and costs $2799.

The RC1572 preamp will sell for $1899, and like the integrated amplifier, this price buys a preamp with a DSD capable 32-bit AKM DAC, aptX Bluetooth, moving magnet phono stage and RS232 and IP control.

Rotel makes a point of the two-year’s of intensive engineering research that went into the three new models. The trio have also had extensive sonic tuning in the UK.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
