Sennheiser Celebrates 75 Years, A Little Differently

With June 2020 marking the founding month and 75th anniversary of Sennheiser, few brands can boast such heritage and history.
COVID-19 has firmly gripped the world in this year's first semester, changing how we travel, live, and celebrate. While Sennheiser is not exempt from these restrictions, to reach such a milestone, a company must be able to adapt, and that is precisely what it has done in the middle of a "new normal".
Sennheiser has launched a dedicated website to share its special anniversary with its employees, customers, friends and follower; best said by the company, "Because you are the people behind our achievements and fantastic projects."
The world's first open headphones, the HD 414.
Even though the celebrations cannot take place as planned, Sennheiser is sharing 75 stories to provide a unique insight into the world of Sennheiser.
Together they show what has brought Sennheiser this far: it's people who share the same passion for music and always strive for the best possible audio experience. Hence the anniversary's motto "This is Your Crew" puts the team, partners and customers at the heart of the celebrations by telling their stories.
To mark the start of the three-quarters of a century celebration, Sennheiser shares a small snippet of its history and what it refers to as "The Future of Audio, since 1945".
The farmhouse where Sennheiser was founded.
It is 75 years since Prof. Dr. Fritz Sennheiser founded the "start-up" that would become Sennheiser in a farmhouse near Hanover, Germany. A university lecturer turned entrepreneur by the necessities of post-war reconstruction, Fritz Sennheiser founded a small company known as "Laboratory Wennebostel" to build audio equipment to help reform the destroyed infrastructure and aid communication. After initially making vacuum-tube voltmeter and measuring devices, the company received an order in the summer of 1945 to build microphones. The rest, as they say, is history, as Fritz Sennheiser's company would go on to innovate numerous audio products and eventually become the globally successful brand that bears his name still today.
You can join in on the celebrations throughout the remainder of the year via the website at www.sennheiser.com/75years.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
