SENNHEISER GETS SENSUAL

You tend to sit up and take notice when new headphones and a headphone amp are described as delivering an unparalleled sensual experience.
The brand using this kind of leading language is headphone stalwart, Sennheiser, not a company given over to audio eroticism, no matter how pleasing that would be to some.
No, great sound, solid engineering and jaw-dropping styling is what we can expect from Sennheiser’s collaboration with fashion house, Dior Homme.
The new pieces include special editions of the reference-class HD 800 S headphones, the HDVD 800 headphone amplifier, the PXC 550 wireless noise cancelling headphones and the high-end IE 800 in-ear headphones.
Dior Homme has endowed each of the above with a slinky, exclusive finish that features an elegant black and anthracite design accentuated with signature red detailing.
Sennheiser says the range spans four categories it calls, Home, Travel, Daily and Pocket. It has addressed each one with products that look stunning, deliver ear-pleasing sound and are presented in finely crafted ranges of Dior Homme Storage furniture, leather bags and pouches.
For the Home category, there is a choice of four models comprising special editions of the HD 800S headphones and the matching HDVD 800 headphone amplifier, and the PXC 550 wireless and the IE 800s in-ear model.
For those that want to travel in Style, Sennheiser/Dior are offering the PXC 550 travel headphones with their noise cancelling technology and 30-hour battery life.
For the pocket there is the portable IE 800 in-ear ‘phones with a tri-colour cable and matching black and red storage pouch crafted from fine leather. As for the daily category, Sennheiser suggests the PXC 550 wireless model presented in a soft black and red leather clutch case.
And who wouldn’t want to slip a set of IE 800 in-ears into a pocket?
The Sennheiser Dior range will be available later in 2017, and will be sold in Australia exclusively through Chadstone Homme boutique in Melbourne. The range will aalso be sold through Sennheiser's flagship stores in Singapore and Berlin.
They will sell for (AUD), Home Solution: $14000, Travel Solution: $3300, Daily Solution: $1650, Pocket Solution: $1650.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
