Sennheiser Launches Ambeo Soundbar Mini

After several leaks, Sennheiser has finally lifted the official curtain on the new Ambeo Soundbar Mini, the latest compact addition to the Ambeo soundbar lineup.
At under half the cubic volume of the Ambeo Plus, the Ambeo Mini is perfect for smaller rooms and applications thanks to its 70x10x6.5cm dimensions. At that size, it’ll fit nicely on any TV console, bedroom dresser and even under a computer monitor.
Maximilian Voigt, Sennheiser Ambeo Soundbar Product Manager, told StereoNET:
The magic of Sennheiser Ambeo technology immerses consumers in stunning 3D sound from a simple, single source in practically any home entertainment space. Our most compact soundbar yet comes at the perfect time with both features and dimensions that are a joy to live with, in or out of the living room.
Four full-range drivers are paired with dual four-inch subwoofers and powered by a total of 250 watts of Class D amplification, with the company claiming consumers can expect “sharp fidelity, impactful bass and crystal-clear presence”.
The Ambeo Mini retains the four microphones built-in that functions for both the one-touch auto-calibration system and the ability to allow for Amazon Alexa commands. Google Assistant and Siri-enabled devices are also able to cast audio to the soundbar via Chromecast Built-in and AirPlay, respectively.
While there aren’t up-firing drivers, the Ambeo Mini does offer 7.1.4 virtual surround sound alongside support for Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and 360 Reality Audio. Other useful features include a voice enhancement option and a Night mode to avoid disturbing your neighbours (or those in different rooms). Integration with the Sennheiser Smart Control App makes it easy to control, although we do hope Sennheiser has fixed the issue with the app crashing that we noticed in our review of the Ambeo Plus!
If you’re worried about the low-end performance, the Ambeo Mini can be connected to as many as four Ambeo Subs, which does seem a bit overkill, but we’re not judging.
The Sennheiser Ambeo Mini will be available to order from 1 September onwards and will sell for £699/ €799 RRP.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
