Sennheiser Releases HD 25 Limited Edition Headphones

It's Sennheiser's 75th Birthday, and it looks like the cake is going to be black, yellow, and have a robust midbass response.

Sennheiser's HD 25 is an iconic professional masterpiece. But don't just take my word for it: This is a headphone that is no stranger to DJs and sound engineers across the globe.

Sennheiser HD 25 Limited Edition

Not only as bulletproof as they come, but the HD 25 also offers a reliable, strong midbass response, pinpoint imaging, a wide soundstage and excellent isolation. It's standard-issue equipment for concert, studio and TV environments, and has been for over 30 years.

In June, and to celebrate the company's anniversary these classic workhorse headphones are discounted to £87 (down from £129!). And if you're lucky, you might receive a limited special edition version instead.

Sennheiser HD 25 Limited Edition

With only 25,000 Limited Edition versions available worldwide, this unique model comes with bright yellow earpads; a cheeky throwback to the world's first open headphones, the Sennheiser HD 414. If this doesn't tickle your fancy, they have included the standard black earpads as well.

The logo on the side of the earcup has also been given the retro treatment, as well as the packaging and sleeve, dressed up as if it were a retail package from the 1940s.

If you're after a new workhorse headphone that sounds great either in a mixing environment or at home, snag yourself a deal today. You might be lucky enough to receive a limited edition piece of history, sure to become a collector's item, while you're at it.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
