SME Launches New Model 15 Turntable

Arguably one of the world's best turntable manufacturers, SME, have released the 'Model 15' turntable, described as the "ultimate in recovery vehicles".
SME says that Model 15 allows the cartridge to retrieve the last nth of recorded material, whether digital or analogue from the vinyl disc and thus approaches the ultimate in perfection.
Receiving its inspiration from the superb Model 10 precision turntable, the Model 15 seeks to emulate the excellence of Models 20/3 and 30/2 turntables whilst retaining the more compact footprint preferred by many enthusiasts.
The SME Model 15 has been designed with the same attention to detail combined with simplicity of operation that has come to be expected from all SME products.
"Its superb performance together with conservative styling make it a sophisticated addition to any sound system that will astound and amaze listeners for years to come." Warwick Freemantle, Director of Pure Music Group, representing SME in Australia, told StereoNET.
Features

Substantial reflex clamp is provided to counteract record warps and maximize platter contact with the record surface.
Silent 3-Phase brushless outrunner inductance motor with electronic closed loop speed control for 33.3, 45 and 78 rpm. Fine speed adjustment in the range +/-0.01%.
Standard arm mountings for all SME 9” and 10” arms

Pure Music Group advocates parity pricing, and the Model 15 basic turntable is available now for $9,990 RRP, or the Model 15A with matching SME 309 SPD tonearm is available for $12,690 RRP.
Freemantle continued, "this pricing closely mirrors current UK pricing and offers exceptional value for a turntable system of this calibre".
SME is distributed in Australia by Pure Music Group.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
