Stack Audio VOLT Linear PSU For Chord DACs, Roon Nucleus
Stack Audio follows last year's introduction of the LINK II's linear power supply with an expanded range of audiophile linear PSUs called dubbed VOLT.
The Stack Audio VOLT linear power supplies aim to offer an alternative to the standard external DC adapters supplied with digital source components.
Stack builds upon the UK designed and manufactured linear supplies produced for its own LINK and LINK II streamers and now offers PSUs for the Chord Qutest, HugoTT/M Scaler, and the Roon Nucleus with more devices in the company's sights.
We're told Stack Audio believes that a pure, smooth power supply is essential for the best listening experience. Therefore, the company has paid great attention to detail has been taken in every aspect of the design of the VOLT, from the component selection and circuit design to eliminating physical vibrations.
Explicitly designed for high-quality audio systems, the Volt helps "eliminate background noise revealing subtle details and nuances revealed for more engaging music listening", says Stack Audio.
Naturally, the first two VOLT models covering LINK II/ Chord Qutest and Roon Nucleus/ Chord TT/ Mscaler have been optimised for the relevant component. However, both feature a UK-made, precision wound toroidal transformer, and Nichicon audio grade capacitors. The transformer is mounted on an isolation plate with Stack Audio's Advanced Vibration Dissipation Compound (AVDC).
Additionally, the units benefit from two-way filtering with noise suppressors on both the input and output stages, along with a rigid and vibration-free precision machined aluminium case.
Finally, a high-quality star-quad geometry connecting cable promises further protection against EMI and mains borne interference.
The Stack Audio VOLT is available in black or silver anodised aluminium with the VOLT LINK II/ Chord Qutest PSU costing £400/ €387, while the VOLT Roon Nucleus/ Chord TT/ Mscaler version is priced at £500/ €484.
