The Chord Company Launch Flagship Cables

One of the UK’s leading high-performance A/V cable manufacturers, The Chord Company has launched its most advanced analogue interconnect to date. Distilling 30 years of Chord know-how into a very special cable range, the Sarum Super ARAY was first unveiled at Sound and Vision 2015, in February.
Building on the musical coherence that made the award-winning Sarum Tuned ARAY cables so remarkable, the new Sarum Super ARAY now features new technology to replace its ever-popular predecessor.
Containing a new configuration that reveals levels of detail, dynamics and naturalness of timbre that are quite extraordinary, the new Sarum Super ARAY is also available as a paid upgrade to owners of the original Sarum Tuned ARAY interconnects, offering full Super ARAY specification.
Seemingly removing yet another layer of noise and revealing a startling level of musical detail, the Sarum Super ARAY interconnect delivers a coherence that makes all the extra detail not just easy to hear, but easy to listen to as well. It adds dramatically to the sense of performance with an ease and naturalness that makes music-listening a pleasure.
Fitted with a new precision-machined, UK-made PTFE RCA plug surround, the Sarum Super ARAY RCA cable introduces a number of sonic advantages over the acrylic plugs used on its predecessor, with the brand promising these new benefits of PTFE are very easy to hear.
Using the same high-quality conductors and cable (which have proven unbeatable) from its predecessor, the Sarum Super ARAY contains micro-polished, silver-plated conductors, with a gas- foamed PTFE dielectric and the unusually high-density foil and braid combination shielding.
The new technology found in the Super ARAY sees the introduction of a second ARAY to the existing Tuned ARAY design. The tuning process is very different and the end result is one big step forward in performance.
Its design requires the same build as the previous Tuned ARAY version, together with a combination of precision machinery and meticulous hand assembly being used to create the Sarum Super ARAY.
Existing owners of Sarum Tuned ARAY or Sarum cables can return them to The Chord Company for an upgrade to the new Sarum Super ARAY specification, for a modest fee. Upon returning them, The Chord company will disassemble them and then carefully re-build to the new configuration. Signal pins and earth shrouds are examined and replaced if necessary, and the new Super ARAY conductors are then fitted. The cable is then re-built with the new precision-machined PTFE plug surrounds.
Owners of the Sarum Tuned ARAY should contact their nearest Chord Company Sarum retailer for more information on an upgrade.
The Sarum Super ARAY RCA, XLR and DIN interconnects are available in standard 1 metre lengths, with custom lengths available, made to order.
Providing remarkable gains in performance, combined with its new PTFE RCA plugs, the Sarum Super ARAY interconnect delivers the best performance that The Chord Company has ever achieved.
Pricing and availability has not yet been confirmed.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
