The Slim Revolution of ONIX Waltz XM10 Ltd

The ONIX Waltz XM10 Ltd steps boldly into the world of Hi-Fi audio players, delivering a blend of sleek design, robust performance, and thoughtful engineering.

With an ultra-slim profile of just 11.5 mm, it ranks among the slimmest Hi-Fi Android players on the market while maintaining the signature aesthetic of its predecessor, the XM10. Constructed from stainless steel the company as positioned to offer both durability and refined premium appearance.

The ONIX Waltz XM10 features an advanced audio system powered by AKM AK4499EX and AK4191 DACs. According to ONIX, this combination is designed to deliver precise decoding and an extensive dynamic range for a superior listening experience. Onix mentions the inclusion of dual AD8397 amplification modules to ensure the output power needed to drive a variety of headphones.

The device's Snapdragon 665 processor runs on Android 13 which should ensure smooth performance and compatibility with modern applications. It's packing 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage for audio libraries. A MicroSD card slot offers a pathway of expansion for users requiring additional space. The 6-inch FHD display, with its 2160 x 1080 resolution, takes care of visuals, complemented by six ergonomic control buttons for navigation.

The ONIX Waltz XM10 also provides several connectivity features. The USB input has an XMOS XU316 chip and supports high-quality digital audio processing. Then there is Bluetooth 5.0 for wireless streaming with compatible devices, plus the player includes 3.5 mm and 4.4 mm audio outputs for wired audio accessible via an included adapter for different headphones and setups.

Battery life looks to be a strong point of the XM10 with it's 4300 mAh battery offering up to 8 hours of playback on a single charge and the 18 W fast-charging capability will help frequent users. The unit is also able to integrate with ONIX's Miracle Stack modular system (High-End DAC / Headphone Amplifier & Specialised Power Supply) allowing users to customise and enhance their setup, tailoring it to their preferences and needs.

While the ONIX Waltz XM10 Ltd brings together a sleek design, advanced audio components, and a user-friendly interface, its actual standing in the world of portable Hi-Fi players remains to be seen. ONIX positions it as a versatile and high-performing device, but how well it meets the expectations of audiophiles and casual listeners alike will depend on hands-on experience and individual preferences.

Available now, the ONIX Waltz XM10 Ltd sells for US$899 / A$1,145/ £750.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
