WHAT AN ENCORE FROM MUSICAL FIDELITY

Yes indeedy, Musical Fidelity does a nice rendition of audio models along the theme of Hi-Res digital wireless streaming and networking, but thank you for asking.
The latest edition to these contemporary digital models is the M6 Encore 225, a one-chassis solution to high quality, hi-res music streaming and CD playback.
Clearly much more advanced than your traditional CD player, the M6 Encore is a media source, DAC, pre-amp, stereo power amp, CD player and a source for bit-perfect CD ripping.
The rear of the Encore 225 has three analogue inputs, four digital (two optical, two coaxial), four USB Type A, (one of which can charge smartphones and tablets), and one USB Type B
The player section can crunch through data at rates up to 32-bit/384kHz. The engine room has a dual-core 64-bit Intel CPU with 2GB of RAM for fast, flawless operation and the circuit has been designed to accommodate future upgrades.
The internal 2TB storage should hold several thousand CDs derived using the CD drive’s built-in ripper. The DAC section works with a 32-bit/384kHz chipset and has hi-res credentials.
Power is on tap and you can expect the Encore 225 to deliver up to 225 watts per channel into an 8ohm load. But it’s not just raw power. Not when Musical Fidelity choose to give the Encore 225 the same audiophile power as the one used in the brand’s award winning M6si model.
And yes, in answer to your earlier question the Encore 225 is network capable and Musical Fidelity says it will work with a Sonos multi-room system.
Other desirable features comprise an audiophile grade headphone amplifier, fixed and variable line level outputs and one digital output.
The 225’s built-in CD player doubles as a ripper and works with an upgradeable 2TB hard drive.
Information is displayed on a front-mounted hi-res colour display screen and users can control the 225’s operation using the supplied remote or free Android or iOS app.
The Encore 225 is part of Musical Fidelity’s Nextgen range of models that includes the $4995 M6si 220 watt dual mono amplifier, the $7995 M6 Encore 225 integrated amplifier streaming music system, the $6495 M6 Encore Connect music system and the $4795 M6sCD CD player and DAC.
Pricing for the Encore 225 is yet to be confirmed.
StereoNET is on hand at the High End show in Munich, Germany, and will take a closer look at new Musical Fidelity releases later today.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
