Wilson Audio's Alexia V floorstanding loudspeaker benefits from several advancements introduced by the recently redesigned Chronosonic XVX and Alexx V models. The successor to the Alexia Series 2 from 2017,  the Utah-based high-end speaker company says Alexia V incorporates more than thirty areas of trickle-down improvements from its higher-end stablemates.

One such improvement seen on the Alexia V is the Convergent Synergy Carbon (CSC) tweeter introduced in the Alexx V. This "unique and complex" carbon fibre rear-wave chamber is manufactured in-house using a 3D printer.

As well as aesthetic touches, Alexia V's cabinet has been optimised in several places. Firstly, the alignment bridge of the midrange driver enclosure has been designed to blend more with the new shape alongside increasing structural integrity by utilising a combination of Wilson's X-Material and aluminium. Additionally, we are told that the wall thickness of all the housings has been carefully improved with mass increased in some areas and material removed from others.

The cut-out at the top of the Sasha DAW woofer blades, designed to reduce unwanted pressure between the midrange and woofer enclosures, has now been incorporated into Alexia V's design. In addition, the more aerodynamic tweeter module has also been reshaped to comfortably accommodate the larger Convergent Synergy Carbon tweeter. Furthermore, the manufacturer's propriety V-Material is nested in the top of the woofer and midrange enclosures for increased vibration mitigation and control.

Meanwhile, the cellulose fibre/carbon composite midrange unit of the Alexia Series 2 has now been replaced by the Alnico (Aluminum-Nickel-Cobalt) QuadraMag unit of the Chronosonic XVX. Also, the midrange enclosure's internal volume has increased by 6.4%. Similarly, the woofer enclosure's internal volume has increased by 8.9% compared to the Alexia Series 2.

Wilson Audio states impedance response and sensitivity have also been improved. The former now measures 2.59 ohms at 84Hz (90 dB @ 1W @ 1m @ 1k) compared to the previous 2.54 ohms, and the latter increasing by +1 dB. Alexia V has a claimed frequency response of 19Hz – 33kHz +/- 3 dB.

You will find new custom cables linking everything via Wilson Audio's bespoke binding posts that accommodate banana plug and spade connections. The new spades, previously only found on the Chronosonic XVX and Alexx V, are optimised to couple precisely with the binding posts.

The Wilson Audio Alexia V stands about 4.5 feet tall (134.86 cm), weighs 265 lbs (120.20 kg) per speaker and is finished in Wilson Audio's automotive-class paint facility. Alexia V is available to order from September 23rd with a UK RRP of £79,888 per pair, including VAT and installation. Premium and custom colours are also available.
