Yamaha Relit LSX-70 Receives Good Design Award

Yamaha’s Relit Series continues to capture the attention of design influencers world-wide, with its latest accomplishment receiving the coveted Good Design® Award in Australia for 'Product Design: Consumer Electronics' for its Relit LSX-70 Portable Lighting/Audio System.

This recognition reflects a wave of accomplishments abroad, with recent recognition at the German iF Design Awards, as well as being a past winner of the Red Dot Award for their LSX-700 model last year.

A departure in design from Yamaha’s more traditional offering of Lifestyle Audio systems, the Relit LSX-70 Portable Lighting/Audio System fuses ambient lighting with 360° non-directional music streaming. Adorned with luxurious finishes, the LSX-70 presents itself as much as a furniture piece as a Bluetooth speaker capable of Yamaha’s renowned natural sound quality.

Commenting on the product, the Good Design judges said, “the Yamaha LSX-70 Portable Lighting/Audio System is a beautifully executed piece of design – beautiful to look at and even more beautiful to listen to. This is an extremely competitive market, and it is refreshing to see something new and original with this level of design and manufacturing.”

To qualify for the Good Design® selection, entries must satisfy the most stringent criteria for good design that include factors such as safety, quality, functionality, sustainability and innovation. The judging process involves more than 30 local and international design experts with seven main categories and 25 sub-categories.

Dr Brandon Gien, CEO of Good Design Australia, and the man who manages the annual Awards program told StereoNET:

We pride ourselves in upholding very high standards in our evaluation process, and as a result, only the best submissions make it through to the selection stage.

The judges take their job very seriously, and dive into each submission to find out what makes it special and truly innovative. The very best ones go on to be considered with the Good Design Award®, one of the most coveted awards for design and innovation in the world.

The award was announced at the Good Design Awards Gala Night earlier this year at the Pavilion, Darling Harbour.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
