VERTERE ACOUSTICS PHONO-1 MKII DG-1 STYLE

Vertere Acoustics has gone official with a new DG-1 version of its excellent PHONO-1 MKII preamplifier.
We first saw the new version PHONO-1 at the DG-1 Vs MG-1 sound off at London's KJ West One, but now Vertere has officially announced it.
The new PHONO-1 option comes sporting a triple-layer acrylic fascia that better matches Vertere Acoustics remarkable entry-level Direct Groove record player - aka DG-1.
The PHONO-1 MKII promises to get the best from any high-quality record player with maximum dynamic range and supreme detail resolution, they say.
Careful construction
To keep interference away from the audio signal, the PHONO-1 MKII features separate high-quality gold plated PCBs for the main phono circuit and the mains power transformer. Additionally, to ensure consistent optimum performance thanks to the use of high-quality components and special solder.
Vertere’s PHONO-1 MM | MC Preamplifier utilises stainless steel shields to enhance isolation of the RIAA and preamplifier circuits further. All power supply components and circuits are outside of the main cover shield and away from any signal path.
Flexibility
With ten gain settings, 15 resistance and nine capacitance settings accessible from the underside of the unit, the PHONO-1 MKII leaves nothing to chance and makes it the perfect match for pretty much every moving coil and moving magnet cartridge.
A 3-way switch provided at the back of PHONO-1 gives the options of ‘Hard Ground,’ ‘Ground Lift’ or ‘Soft Ground’ connection of the preamplifier and the chassis, to minimise any hum that may be introduced between the PHONO-1 and the main amplifier.
As well as the new DG-1 style fascia there are other finishes available: Silver aluminium, Signature Vertere Orange and Semi-matt Black.
Price and availability
The Vertere Acoustics PHONO-1 MKII is available now for £995.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
