Audiolab Release 8300CD Digital Pre/DAC/CD Player
Audiolab won numerous awards with their 8200 series products. Replacing both the outgoing 8200CD and 8200CDQ, the new 8300CD adds full digital preamplifier functionality.
With a complete redesign of the cd-drawer, which is now a slot-in drive, the 8300CD uses the same D/A ESS9018 as the 8200CD and the notorious M-DAC, but now supports DSD via the USB input, and resolutions up to 384kHz/32bit and DSD256.
In an age of streaming and downloads, Audiolab say that ‘many music fans have large CD collections, and this will not change anytime soon’. The brand now pledges their dedication to ensuring that these traditional CD lovers continue to be well served, with CD players of exceptional quality without exceptionally high price tags.
The new model builds on the foundations of the 8200CD and 8200CDQ, and retains many of their features, such as the 32-bit ESS Sabre DAC and the Class A analogue stages and sophisticated power supply. However, it is additionally enhanced with new features such as full digital preamp functionality, slot-loading CD transport mechanism, improved high-resolution USB input and DSD via USB.
Connectivity options have been further expanded with the addition of an AES/EBU digital input and XLR digital output. These join the full complement of inputs and outputs retained from the 8200CD: 2x coaxial digital inputs; 2x optical digital inputs; 1x asynchronous USB input; 1x coaxial digital output; 1x optical digital output; single-ended RCA and balanced XLR analogue outputs; 12V trigger loop.
Containing a new 2.7” OLED display, with a more refined and updated look, the 8300CD is available in both black and silver finish options and is sure to be a solid performer.
The Audiolab 8300CD will be available around the end of October '15, and pricing is to be confirmed.
