AVM Announces Inspiration SD 2.2 Preamp with Tidal

Audio Video Manufaktur (AVM), a relatively unknown brand in this country, have actually been producing high-quality audio components in Germany for more than 20 years.

Headquartered in Malsch, Germany, all AVM's design and manufacturing is maintained completely in‐house ensuring the highest quality, reliability and performance. This week Australian distributor National Audio Group has announced the upcoming release of their new Inspiration SD 2.2, a Pre‐amplifier with Hi‐Fi Streaming and DAC.

The Inspiration SD 2.2 combines an analogue preamplifier with 2 unbalanced inputs (for connection of an external phono pre‐amp or tuner), with the best in digital and internet streaming. 5 digital inputs including Asynchronous USB and a 192kHz/32bit DAC with 64DSD (2.8Mhz) compatibility, as well as LAN and WiFi ensure flexible connectivity.

Stream your locally stored media (MP3, WMA, AAC, Ogg Vorbis, FLAC, WAV, AIFF, ALAC via UPnP, DLNA, WMDRM) from NAS drives and control it all from the intuitive AVM RC S App for iOS and Android, or the exclusively designed optional RC9 remote control with colour display.

For Head‐Fi enthusiasts there’s no reason to double up on expensive amplifiers when the SD 2.2 has a discrete headphone amplifier built‐in.

Con Dikeos, Managing Director of National Audio Group told StereoNET:

We’ve been very pleased with the AVM brand, it’s typically very high quality as you would expect from this German brand. The upcoming firmware release allowing the inclusion of Tidal streaming ensures the Inspiration SD 2.2 will be very popular with Hi‐Fi enthusiasts.

AVM have announced that an upcoming firmware release in July will allow customers to stream TIDAL, the lossless CD quality streaming platform that is certainly making waves within the industry.

The Inspiration SD 2.2 Preamplifier & DAC will be available in July for $5,099.00 RRP (Black/Silver), $7,340.00 RRP (Chrome).

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
