BenQ’s Little Secret

One room to visit at this weekend's Australian Audio & AV Show is BenQ, who will be showcasing their affordable 3D Ready, Full HD 1080p projectors, along with something else a little left-field.
BenQ’s new ‘living room’ projectors create a cinema in the comfort of your own home; big impact family fun and no longer just for the rich and famous… home entertainment has become mainstream and won’t cost you the earth to set up.
The W1070+ and W1080ST+ will be on show. These projectors combine 3D-readiness and the realism of Full HD 1080p picture quality with new exciting features such as streaming and mirroring capabilities for devices equipped with Mobile High-Definition Link (MHL) to allow the transfer of small-screen content from any portable device.
For optimal convenience and versatility Blu-ray players and gaming consoles can be connected to the projectors via HDMI, and you can view cloud content using any MHL-ready streaming device.
What's very interesting however is a new category for BenQ, with the public preview of the eVolo loudspeaker. A portable battery powered wireless electrostatic speaker with Bluetooth (aptX). With up to 12 hours battery life, and the ability to connect to your smartphone for CD-quality wireless audio, the eVolo punches well above it's weight. StereoNET members were witness to an exclusive private preview just last week of the eVolo, and by all accounts attendees were most impressed.
To witness the products for yourself, visit the BenQ rooms (Richard Speight and Wool Rooms) at the 2014 Australian Audio & AV Show at Intercontinental Rialto, Melbourne, this weekend.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
