Big Plans for RIO Sound & Vision

When it comes to HiFi and Home Theatre, RIO Sound & Vision in Preston, Victoria know a thing or two, having been in business since 1993.

Founded by Paul Riachi, their original Thornbury store served discerning customers for nearly twenty years before they outgrew the original location.

Ten years after starting the business, a second store was opened in Hampton and continues to service the Bayside area customers today.

Riachi told StereoNET:

We're proud of RIO’s growth over the past two decades. Our customers continue to shop with us because of our skilled and professional team. We carefully consider their needs, and advise on the most suitable solution that will obtain the absolute highest quality result.

In 2013, RIO Sound & Vision moved the Thornbury business to a much larger premises on well-known Bell Street, Preston. To cope with their growing retail and online sales, this new location would serve as what Paul refers to as their new “Superstore”.

While they began trading right away from the new location, a grand plan was always in Paul’s mind.

With over 3000sq of land to play with, the current store has 3 dedicated theatre rooms, and 600sq of retail show room.

Across the floor you’ll find products on offer from Klipsch, Onkyo, Pioneer, System Audio, AMC, Samsung, Bang & Olufsen, Sony and many more.

With their own dedicated warehouse onsite, one thing you can be assured of when you visit RIO Sound & Vision is that they’ll almost certainly have the item you want in stock.

Stage 1 of the development at the Preston superstore was no small feat. The entire roof was rebuilt, as well as structural reinforcements taking place to facilitate Paul’s future plans. Foundations were laid for the future electrical and automation plans, and the entire frontage was given a makeover that certainly makes a statement to the passing Bell Street commuters.

With a team of 9 staff, all are excited about the prospects and opportunity that will be created by Stage 2 of the development project, slated for next year.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
