EMT CARTRIDGE PRODUCTION SHIFTS TO SWITZERLAND
If you're into analogue audio reproduction you most certainly will be familiar with the Thales turntable name. Manufactured by Switzerland-based HiFiction AG, the turntable manufacturer has assumed control of EMT Tontechnik, famous for its EMT phono cartridges.
HiFiction AG says it has now moved all EMT cartridge production from Mahlberg, Germany, to its Winterthur, Switzerland factory.
EMT was founded in 1940 and became famous by manufacturing professional turntables in Lahr, Germany. In 1965, EMT launched the famous MC cartridge TSD 15, which was widely used in broadcast studios all over the world.
In 1974, EMT commenced making cartridges for Hi-Fi use and in 2006, the JSD series was introduced.
Following a carefully staged transition from the original EMT production facilities in Germany, HiFiction AG have successfully moved all production and business operations for EMT cartridges to its own factory in Winterthur, Switzerland, under the watchful eye of Micha Huber.
Two new cartridges that debuted at this year's Munich High End show are now available in Australia including the HMD-025 MC Mono with aluminium body ($1,800 RRP) and the HSD-006 MC Stereo with aluminium body ($1,950 RRP).
