EXPERIENCE THE NEW BOWERS & WILKINS 600 SERIES - BRISTOL HI-FI SHOW 2019

The sixth iteration of Bowers & Wilkins 600 Series dramatically improves the range's legendary combination of outstanding value and audio performance. The new 600 Series brings high-end sound quality within reach, applying Bowers & Wilkins’ cutting-edge technologies and leading design.

Our very own Matthew Jens was impressed by the Bowers & Wilkins 603 so much he handed them the first StereoNET Applause Award of 2019. Needless to say, the rest of the Bowers & Wilkins 600 Series range has also not done too poorly on the award front thanks to their great value and high performance. With advanced technology, discreet style and the ability to outperform more expensive rivals, the new 600 Series sets a higher sound quality standard at a competitive price point.

The remarkable bang-for-buck is the result of integrating higher-end technologies first used in the Bowers & Wilkins’ flagship 800 Series Diamond range. The new 600 Series is the most affordable range to incorporate the remarkable Bowers & Wilkins developed and manufactured Continuum Cone midrange driver.

The new 600 Series also introduces an updated version of its acclaimed Decoupled Double Dome Tweeter technology for a more accurate and more explicit high-frequency performance. This technology, paired with new paper cone low-frequency drivers in the flagship 603, ensures a rich, powerful bass response.

The new range is available in Matte Black and Satin White and includes:

  • 603: As the flagship and largest speaker in the series, this floor standing speaker delivers outstanding power, accuracy, and musicality with the Decoupled Double Dome tweeter, an FST midrange driver using the Continuum Cone, plus dual paper-cone bass drivers
  • 606: For stand or bookshelf use, this compact speaker delivers stunning clarity and tonal purity plus outstanding bass extension combining the Decoupled Double Dome tweeter technology with 6.5-inch Continuum Cone
  • 607: Although the smallest in the range, this compact stand or bookshelf speaker offers outstanding bass response and insight from its main 5-inch Continuum Cone mid/bass driver
  • HTM6: A slim, dedicated center channel speaker with considerable power and exceptional precision featuring the Decoupled Double Dome tweeter plus dual 5-inch Continuum Cone mid/bass drivers
  • ASW610XP, ASW610, and ASW608: Completing the range are three outstanding subwoofers carried across from the previous 600 Series with updated finishes to match the new range

Go and listen to the next-gen 600s in the Wallace Suite, Lower Ground Floor, Bristol.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
