GoldenEar Expands the Triton Series

US based GoldenEar Technology's Sandy Gross co-founded both Polk Audio and Definitive Technology, two world-class brands in their own right. After a life-time dedicated to the design of loudspeakers, it's not surprising that together with Don Givogue, the inception of GoldenEar has been very successful, and today's product line-up draws upon decades of award winning speaker designs.

The product range consists of speakers geared towards two-channel, multi-channel home theatre (including satellite and in-wall / ceiling speakers), as well as lifestyle products including soundbars and satellite speakers.

The Triton Series are GoldenEar's 'premiere' floor-stander, "embodying all of GoldenEar's cutting edge technology". Featuring a High-Velocity Folded Ribbon tweeter design which propagates sound waves and moves the air by squeezing it with an accordion-like pleated diaphragm, which according to GoldenEar "makes for greater efficiency, lower distortion, improved dynamics and a superbly detailed sound".

Available from June 2015, GoldenEar Technology's latest product is the Triton 'Five' Tower. Attractively sized at 1124mm tall, Triton Five promises bass response down to 26Hz thanks to four eight-inch planar sub-bass radiators, and features dual 6" bass/midrange drivers that according to GoldenEar give a greater dynamic range than its predecessor, the Triton Seven. Featuring a unique cabinet shape, the Triton Five is both acoustically purposeful as well as strikingly attractive.

The Triton Five Tower is perfect for use in two-channel systems, as well as complete multi-channel surround music and home theater systems.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
