HEAD-FI MARKET SHAKE-UP AS MRSPEAKERS LANDS NEW AUSSIE HOME

The Australian premium headphone market is witnessing a shake-up as high-end brand MrSpeakers appoints Advance Audio as Australian distributor.
The move signals the second head-fi brand distributed by Melbourne-based Busisoft AV to change distributors in as many weeks.
Last week Meze Audio, an award-winning brand from Romania, moved to Sydney's Radiance Audio Visual who had been scouring the globe for a suitable brand for over two years.
MrSpeakers is a San Diego borne brand that was formed by an electrical engineer, Dan Clark, with a simple goal in mind: make great headphone products and have fun doing it.
Andy Regan, President of MrSpeakers, told StereoNET:
MrSpeakers is proud to appoint Advance Audio Australia as our exclusive distributor for Australia. MrSpeakers has not only worked hard to design and build the most musical products in the industry but to also treat our customers like extended family. Nigel Ng and company are the best people to represent not only our products but our culture to personal audio fans down under. We are very excited.
MrSpeakers' humble beginnings started with modifying Fostex headphones before establishing themselves with a range of headphone offerings touted by many enthusiasts as amongst the world's best.
The addition of MrSpeakers to its portfolio marks a new chapter for Advance Audio who is celebrating 25-years this year, and add to its reputable range including KEF, Wilson Audio, Nordost, Arcam, and more.
Nigel Ng, General Manager at Advance Audio, added:
Being able to approach a new demographic with our portfolio is very exciting. This addition to our portfolio marks the beginning of a long term, nation- and industry-wide collaboration that will bring stability and integrity to the head-fi industry, to the benefit of all head-fi customers.
The full range of MrSpeakers will be available from early August, and prices start at $1,395 RRP for its AEON Closed headphones, up to $5,195 RRP for the flagship VOCE Electrostatic headphones.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
