Klipsch Release Active Monitor Speakers

Klipsch have announced their first powered monitor speakers, the Reference R-15PM, which will be available from late March this year.

Powered, or 'active' monitors and speakers are certainly increasingly in popularity as living spaces become smaller. By combining the amplifier with the speakers, you reduce the new for additional cables, clutter and mess.

Part of Klipsch’s Reference series, the R-15PM feature the same award-winning sonic sound signature as the rest of the line-up. Designed with power, performance and simplicity in mind, the R-15PM powered monitors cater to the way people access and listen to content while maintaining the core Klipsch design and acoustic principles.

With simplicity in mind, these powered monitors were designed for simple set up, allowing you to simply connect a turntable, television, computer or wireless device, in just minutes. With an integrated phono pre-amp, Bluetooth® wireless technology, digital optical, analog RCA and USB audio inputs make it a versatile audio solution.

There's also a wired sub output if you want to add a little more bottom end response. The RP-15PM’s dedicated IR remote allows easy access to system features such as dedicated source selection, track controls and play/pause options.

Just like all Reference loudspeakers from Klipsch, the R-15PM features their proprietary 90°x90° Hybrid Tractrix® Horn technology coupled with Linear Travel Suspension (“LTS”) aluminium tweeters.

Shelden Walker, Klipsch Product Specialist at Powermove Distribution told StereoNET:

Reference Premiere R-15PM powered monitors fully embody the ideals of Klipsch design philosophy: low distortion, high efficiency, flat frequency response, broad dynamic range and controlled directivity. Unique materials have been applied in the ongoing pursuit of ultra-low distortion design. The horn’s outer layer is silicon-based rubber, which eliminates resonance of the horn housing, improving detail and resolution.

Klipsch R-15PM will be available late March 2016 for $1,399 /pair RRP.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
