Loewe multi.room Streaming Amplifier Company’s First
Loewe has launched its first streaming amplifier, descriptively dubbed the Loewe multi.room.
Loewe's multi.room streaming stereo amp aims to update your hi-fi or home cinema speaker setup into a smart, streaming and, no surprises here, multi-room-enabled sound system.
It certainly appears to have the smarts as the multi.room boasts support for Apple AirPlay, Google Chromecast, Spotify Connect, and DTS Play-Fi, giving you plenty of options for streaming audio from your chosen mobile device. Furthermore, it enables you to group whatever speakers you have plugged into the amplifier into a multiroom setup. Nice.
The multi.room isn't too shabby on the amplification front either, with the spec sheet stating the compact unit (8x27x27cm (HxWxD)) is capable of 1200 watts into 4 ohms (up to 600 watts into 8 ohms) of Class D amplification. Moreover, Loewe promises it delivers "natural, powerful audio" from various sources, including CD players, turntables and digital sources over its RCA and USB inputs.
Thanks to HDMI ARC support, you can even hook up this amplifier to your TV. Meanwhile, two network jacks are available for LAN integration, even in a daisy-chain configuration, and active speakers can be connected via the RCA preamp output while another RCA jack supports active subwoofers.
The multi.room also features pairing with wireless rear and front multi-channel speakers to expand into a complete home cinema system, as well as the latest in wi-fi and Bluetooth wireless connectivity.
As for looks, the German-engineered multi.room keeps with the expected Loewe minimalist design language with a simple circular control panel on the front that gives iPod vibes alongside an LED indicator.
The Loewe multi.room is now available for £999/ €999, which puts the £219 Applause Award-winning WiiW Pro Plus into perspective.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
