MARANTZ M-CR612 NETWORK CD RECEIVER GIVES A LOT FOR JUST A LITTLE

There’s a global trend happening right now that’s seeing the shift from rack’s full of Hi-Fi components back to the all-in-one, and Marantz is all over it with its new M-CR612.
Dubbed a ‘compact network CD receiver’, the feature-rich yet compact component offers the musical experience we’ve come to expect from Marantz, but with the convenience of a stack of connectivity from just one box.
With HEOS, AirPlay 2 and Bluetooth alongside a built-in CD player, music lovers have access to endless hours of their favourites from streaming platforms including TuneIn, Spotify, TIDAL, and local digital files. Two digital inputs also offer provision to connect a TV or set-top box for movie and TV show sound. There’s also provision for DAB+ and FM Radio.
The M-CR612 features a built-in 60W x 2 (6 Ohms), or 30W x 4 amplifier with A/B speaker selection and individual volume settings, with the option to connect bi-amp compatible speakers.
Emmanuel Millot, global brand director at Marantz, told StereoNET:
The M-CR612 delivers that unique musical Marantz sound listeners love, while also offering voice-accessible streaming and multi-room listening capabilities. If you’re looking for a compact Hi-Fi source without compromising on performance and features for a smaller listening space, this networked CD receiver is an excellent choice.
In an age where voice control is seamlessly becoming part of our lives, the M-CR612 includes provision for Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant or Apple Siri, and will play users’ favourite music, turn up the volume, skip to the next track, switch inputs, and much more by simply asking. You can even switch between voice agents, or pick a favourite to use regularly.
A durable acrylic top plate cover, vertical lighting accents with four user-selectable choices, and an OLED display ensure that whether you choose the M-CR612 in black or silver finish, it will make a visual and acoustic statement in your living space.
The Marantz M-CR612 will be available in July and sell in Australia for $1,320 RRP.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
