May The Force Be With You

We’ve been using a NuForce stereo power amp for several months. AVR’s main man in the Southern States, Anthony Deleo, left it with us to report back our impressions. Driving the Sonus Faber Cremonas, the IA18 has been a revelation.
Unlike so many Digital amps, the 18 sounds just like a high quality audiophile class product should.
The thing is NuForce is sharing the love around and has now released a series of home theatre models crammed full of the brands technologies previously only used in its Reference Series.
The four new models are the AVP-18 AV Processor/Pre-Amplifier ($1,649), the MCP-18 multi-channel analogue pre-amplifier ($1,499), and two multi-channel power amplifiers, the MCA-20 ($3,199) and MCA-18 ($1,499).
The AVP-18 AV Processor/Pre-Amplifier takes digital inputs feeds only and these are up to 24-bit/192kHz. And yes, it’s compatible with, the most common decoding formats, as well as TrueHD and DTS HD Master Audio. The 18 has four HDMI inputs (all HDMI 1.4 compliant with 3D, CEC and SRC support), two optical and two coaxial S/PDIF inputs. The HDMI monitor output also supports ARC, allowing the TV to be used as an additional HDMI input. Set-up includes 11 parametric equalisers per channel, and quadruple bass management settings.
The new MCP-18 7.1-channel preamplifier has a high-quality, numerically-controlled analogue volume control, non-inverting op-amp output circuit, balanced circuits with no phase-delay. All channels can be individually tweaked to match speaker sensitivity and positioning. Custom installation is via RS-232. The new MCA-20 and MCA-18 are 8-channel power amplifier models equipped with NuForce’s V3 mono digital amplifier modules. Rating is 55-watts into 8 ohms (all channels driven).
‘NuForce has been digital audio electronics specialist, and the new range displays all of the NuForce’s experience and expertise,’ said Tony Ingrisano of Audio Visual Revolution, NuForce distributor in Australia.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
