MCINTOSH RELEASES NEXT GENERATION MODELS
McIntosh is looking ahead and covering all the bases for the next generation of audiophiles and music lovers.
So if you look closely at the new MA7200 integrated amplifier and MAC7200 receiver, you won’t fail to spot a bundle of future-proofed features.
The MA7200 is an exclusive export model not available to US or Canadian consumers. Their loss is our gain in the form of 200 watts per channel amplifier with a total of 14 inputs.
This mountain load of inputs is made up of 8 analogue connections (5 unbalanced, 1 balanced and 1 each of moving coil and moving magnet) plus 6 digital (2 each of coaxial and optical along with 1 USB and 1 proprietary MCT to use with McIntosh’s series of SACD/CD transports).
The digital inputs are built into the brand’s DA1 Digital Audio Module, designed to be replaced by future modules to keep the MA7200 up to date with impeding digital audio technologies.
Even handier for its lucky owners, the DA1 comes with an 8-channel, 32-bit DAC used in Quad Balanced mode. The USB handles PCM signals up to 32-bit/384kHz and supports up to DSD256 and DXD 384kHz for hi-res audio playback.
A next gen model, the MA7200 carries new, gruntier control microprocessors along with some of the newest audio grade circuit parts.
The new amp is fitted with Mc’s Headphone Crossfeed Director (HXD) technology to get the best out of your headphones. The MA7200 will generate the full 200 watts to each stereo speaker no matter what the impedance is.
The MA7200 has a High Drive headphone amplifier, Power Guard, Sentry Monitor, Home Theatre PassThru, Monogrammed heatsinks, bass and treble controls and gold plated speaker binding posts.
Think of the MA7200 with an AM/FM tuner and you have the new MAC7200 receiver. McIntosh built its first tuner way back in the 1950s and in 1972 released what’s now an audio classic called the MR78 model.
The latest receiver will display the multipath and noise levels of an incoming RF signal so users can fine-tune their antennas to capture perfect reception.
Ease of use was paramount in the MAC7200’s design so it has dedicated PRESET and TUNING knobs. The new receiver includes RDS support and it will display optional information sent by radio stations such as the station’s name and call letters as well as the artist and song being played.
The MAC7200 allows for 20 pre-sets for each radio band and it is bundled with a remote AM antenna.
Australian distributor, Synergy Audio Visual has told StereoNET the new models will arrive in Australia around the end of September 2017. Pricing will be confirmed shortly.
