Meze Audio 109 Pro Headphones Teased in the UK

Meze Audio's 109 Pro headphones continue to build excitement towards their October release.
Meze's 109 Pro open-backed headphones were unveiled at the High End Show in Munich where we experienced them for the first time in Europe, and then they were showcased at the StereoNET Hi-FI & AV Show in Australia shortly afterwards. However, more recently, Meze brought the highly anticipated earphones to CanJam London.
The Romanian brand's aim for the 109 Pro is to bring the technology and performance of its Elite and Empyrean headphones to a much wider audience, thanks to a more affordable price point.

That said, the 109 Pro are crafted from high-end materials such as walnut wood and manganese steel. The design might be inspired by the bestselling 99 Classics, but my short listening session gave me the impression of a more 'fun' sounding headset than the flagship cans, but without sacrificing detail retrieval.
Powered by 50mm cellulose/ Beryllium dynamic drivers developed by Meze's acoustic engineering team and, like the 99 Classics, the 109 Pro promise to be "endlessly serviceable" thanks to its nuts and bolts construction.
Antonio Meze, Lead Designer and Founder of Meze Audio, told StereoNET:
At the core of it all, music is an expression of emotion, a celebration of life and a token of everlasting memories. Every part of the 109 PRO headphones, from the premium materials we used to the intricate engineering, embodies that same emotion our favourite music makes us feel.

The Meze Audio 109 Pro will launch in October 2022, but we hope to have confirmed pricing before then.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
