PRO-JECT VC-S2 ALU AND VC-E RECORD CLEANING MACHINES

Pro-Ject has unveiled two new Record Cleaning Machines (RCM) which the Austrian company claims are its fastest yet.

Pro-Ject has unveiled its two newest RCMs, one premium model and one for smaller vinyl collections.

Pro-Ject VC-S2 ALU

The VC-S2 ALU at £399 is the premium model here and is equipped with a vacuum motor to remove dirt from the grooves of your precious plastic. The company says that your vinyl will be residue-free in as little as one or two rotations. Each rotation takes less than two seconds - "three times faster than comparable products" boasts the brand.

The VC-S2 ALUs also features a new aluminium screw-on clamp which is lined with a rubber pad. Additionally, there is a 2.5-litre tank to collect the cleaning fluid.

You also get Pro-Ject's proprietary 'Wash-IT' non-alcoholic cleaning concentrate (£15 per 100ml) bundled in. The unique liquid promises to reduce static charge and stylus wear.

At a hundred notes less than the VC-S2 ALU is the compact VC-E (£299).

You still benefit from the same vacuum technology meaning a record can be dried in two rotations. The significant difference is that it has a 0.5-litre fluid tank, considerably smaller than its larger stablemate which lends the VC-E to tackling smaller collections.

The VC-E also weighs 6.5kg compared to the VC-S2 ALU's 8kg.

Both cleaning machines are available from October 2019.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
