Sennheiser’s Alexa-Friendly HD 450SE Noise-Cancelling Headphones Released

Sennheiser has announced a special edition of its HD 450BT that boasts, amongst other things, integration of Amazon Alexa.

Sennheiser's HD 450SE noise-cancelling Bluetooth 5.0 headphones promise to deliver exceptional wireless sound, 30-hours battery life, and seamless integration of Amazon's voice-activated digital assistant, Alexa.

The new special edition HD 450SE are closed-backed cans that will already isolate you from the outside; however, there is also active noise cancellation meaning that you can block out all external audible distractions. Furthermore, thanks to aptX Low Latency tech, watching a movie will be a pleasure as we're promised no lipsync issues. Finally, there's high-quality wireless codec support, including AAC and aptX, all to ensure excellent wireless sound.

The HD 450SE has a dedicated Voice Assistant button enabling you to interact with Alexa, Siri, or Google Assistant at the touch of a button. Music control and calls also have their own dedicated buttons on the earcups.

The Sennheiser Smart Control App allows you to tune the headphones to how you like them through the intuitive in-app equaliser. The Smart Control App also offers access to the headphones' battery status and a Quick Guide for user tips and enables firmware updates. Additionally, Podcast Mode in the app enhances speech clarity for when you're enjoying podcasts, audiobooks and other speech content.

The headphones come with an extra audio cable for wired audio enjoyment and a convenient carry case for storage and transport.

The Sennheiser HD 450SE is available now for £179.99 (RRP).

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
