Sony Announces WH-1000XM4 Silent White Limited Edition Headphones

Sony's flagship headphone, the WH-1000XM4 and considered one of the best noise-cancelling headphones by many, will see a limited edition release this June.

The latest design dubbed 'Silent White' offers all the much-loved technology from the hugely popular WH-1000XM4 in a new stylish white colour. The release coincides with Sony's 75th Anniversary next month.

Only available throughout the Asia Pacific region, the WH-1000XM4 Silent White includes a pearlescent finish to the topcoat of the headphones to create a sense of depth and a luxurious touch. With an additional coat of paint compared to the standard black and silver colours, the new release headphones are even more stain-resistant and retain the high-quality white colour. Also, all accessories come in the same white colour, so your carrying case and cables seamlessly match the serene white of the headphones.

The WH-1000XM4 Silent White also features an array of smart technologies to create a seamless, hands-free listening experience. For example, start speaking to automatically pause your music with the 'Speak-to-Chat' feature, or enjoy adaptive playback thanks to a proximity sensor and two acceleration sensors that detect whether your headphones are being worn or not. Adaptive Sound Control is another smart function that senses where you are and what you're doing, then adjusts ambient sound settings for the ideal listening experience.

The WH-1000XM4 allows you to connect your headphones to two Bluetooth devices at the same time, as well as being NFC compatible. Battery life is reported at up to 30 hours battery life.

Designed for those who are always on the go, the super-soft, pressure-relieving earpads evenly distribute pressure and increase ear/pad contact for a stable fit.

The WH-1000XM4 Silent White limited-edition model will be available in Australia from June 2021 and will sell for $619 RRP.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
