Stranger High Fidelity Opens its Doors

Stranger Records owner opens boutique high-end hi-fi retail enterprise.
Stranger High Fidelity is the new high-end audio retail service run by Cameron Jenkins, founder and owner of independent label Stranger Records.
Jenkins is better known for his production, engineering, songwriting and musician credits which include albums by The Verve, John Cale, The Charlatans, Everything But The Girl, Lemon Jelly and Badly Drawn Boy, among others. Additionally, his Stranger Records label was the first home of Lana del Rey. Furthermore, his work has seen him nominated for two Mercury Prizes, a Latin Grammy, a BRIT award and a MOBO.
Jenkins, who has arguably been at the forefront of a rapidly changing music industry, has intimate knowledge of both how music is created and enjoyed. With many years spent in the control rooms of some of the most renowned recording studios in the world, he now wants to share his wealth of experience with customers of home hi-fi. This is where Stranger High Fidelity comes in.
Cameron Jenkins explains:
It's an idea I've been harbouring for a while. I kept thinking, what if you could buy a hi-fi system from people who are actually making music, with the opportunity to audition the system in the setting where music is being recorded, mixed and mastered?
Jenkins has his own space at Real World Studios in Box, Wiltshire, not far from the city of Bath and is inviting customers to come, by appointment, to spend some quality time listening to a selection of his hand-picked systems.
He adds:
I've hand-picked a few of my favourite hi-fi brands and products to create stunning, immersive audio systems. The focus is on superb engineering, elegant aesthetics and, above all, flawless musicality. This is truly exceptional hi-fi that you won't find on every high street but which you really, really ought to hear.
At Stranger High Fidelity you will find brands from both the worlds of home and professional audio - names such as Bricasti, Clearaudio, DS Audio, Furutech, Kerr Acoustic, MBL, Roon, Townshend Audio, Trinnov Audio and more.
Stranger High Fidelity also offers a level of service that you won't find on any high street. Jenkins will be working with top audio engineers, acoustic experts and a range of professional set-up tools and promises that your system will perform to a level that a record producer would expect in a professional studio.
StereoNET should have been amongst the select few attending an opening event (remember our news that MBL was coming to the UK?) but Lockdown 2.0 understandably put paid to that.
Instead, we are told that press and customers can look forward to a number of special events that are being planned for 2021.
Jenkins wraps up with:
We have a fabulous venue - one of the world's great recording studios. We have some very exciting musicians and artists. And we have some incredible systems we can't wait to share with you.
Customers planning to visit the now open Stranger High Fidelity can be assured that the strictest safety guidelines will be followed at all times.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
