T+A Introduces Elegant Solitaire T Cognac White Headphones

German high-end audio specialist T+A elektroakustik has announced an elegant update to its Solitaire T headphone range.

The Solitaire T Cognac White replaces the original Solitaire T White and pairs its predecessor's acclaimed sound performance with a refined new design. According to T+A, this model combines technical sophistication with a fresh aesthetic to appeal to audiophiles and design-conscious listeners.

The new release introduces a bi-colour finish, blending rich cognac-brown tones with crisp white accents. According to T+A, the updated headband and carefully matched ear cup inserts aim to enhance the product's visual appeal "while preserving its technical excellence".

The new carry case, made from animal-free leather in a cognac shade, blends practicality with style, featuring thoughtful details like a self-adhesive cable holder.

Conradin Amft, T+A's COO, commented to StereoNET

When we set out to design the Solitaire T Cognac White, our guiding question was: How can we refine the aesthetic essence of such a groundbreaking headphone without diluting its technical brilliance?

At its heart, the Solitaire T Cognac White retains the same 42mm transducer with a specialized cellulose diaphragm, a key component that T+A claims balances rigidity and lightness to achieve speed, dynamics, and clarity. This transducer is paired with the headphone's optimised bass system, reportedly delivers the airy highs, detailed mids, and precise bass that have become synonymous with the Solitaire T sound signature.

Amft continued:

That's why we never considered altering the core technical design of the headphones. Instead, our newly expanded design team focused on elevating the materials to reflect and enhance the technical sophistication of the Solitaire T.

Designed for versatility, the Solitaire T is equipped to perform in both active and passive modes. Passive insulation is said to effectively reduce external noise. According to the company, T+A's active noise cancellation can be engaged to block out unwanted sounds in noisier environments. The Solitaire T's digital components further enhance its capabilities for modern listeners. T+A highlights the Qualcomm QCC 5127 chip and Esstech ES9218 Sabre DAC as critical elements of the headphone's HQ Mode. The aim of which is to bridge the gap between wired and wireless audio quality.

T+A also emphasizes the Solitaire T's craftsmanship, noting that its pearl-blasted aluminium components are machined from solid materials. The company claims this adds to the headphones' durability and pays homage to the design philosophy of their flagship Solitaire P reference headphones. While certainly not the cheapest in the category, this latest update will certainly broaden stylistic appeal while preserving the core features of the original model.

The Solitaire T Cognac White will be available through authorised retailers starting February 2025, priced at US$1,849/ £1,350/ €1.490.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
