Following last year's true wireless debut, the EAH-AZ70W, Technics has announced its EAH-AZ60 and EAH-AZ40 earphones. However, if cans are more your thing, the company will be releasing its EAH-A800 "overhead wireless headphones" early next year.

Both sets of these wireless earbuds boast Technics' proprietary JustMyVoice tech. According to the company, JustMyVoice works to improve voice pick-up during calls. Additionally, both sets support Bluetooth 5.2 and are rated as IPX4, meaning they should cope with the British weather.  

The flagship Technics EAH-AZ60 (above) adds active noise cancellation into the mix, setting itself above its AZ40 (below) stablemate. There are no less than four mics on each earpiece which are also armed with feedforward and feedback noise-cancelling methods.

The Technics EAH-AZ60 also supports LDAC, which is capable of 32-bit/96kHz over Bluetooth at up to 990kbps. Although, you get 24-bit/96kHz in this instance.

Naturally, with noise-cancelling earphones, there are times when you need to let the outside in. Here, the EAH-AZ60's Natural Ambient Mode steps up and promises to capture surrounding noise, enabling you to have a grip on the outside world while taking calls and listening to music. We are also told that flicking the earphones into the new Attention Mode focuses on the human voice frequency range. So, it should highlight people talking, which is handy no matter if being told your cappuccino is ready or your train is now leaving from a different platform.

Furthermore, the AZ60 is loaded with a new 8mm driver, while the AZ40 sports new 6mm drivers along with six mics in each bud for clearer calls.

A snug and secure fit should be guaranteed thanks to a "new drop shape", with the inner portion being designed to maximise contact with the ear canal for optimal fit. Meanwhile, the outer part of the earbud is thinner than previous models and so is said to make them less likely to fall out of place, as should the shorter design. Finally, there are seven pairs of eartips bundled with the AZ60 (in sizes ranging from XS to XL), with the AZ40 getting four sets of different-sized tips.

Battery stamina for the AZ60 with ANC on is seven hours with a total of 24 hours, including the wireless charging case. The AZ40 should give you seven and a half hours before needing a recharge with 25 hours in total with the case.

The Technics EAH-AZ60 are available in silver and black for £199, and the EAH-AZ40 are available in silver, black and rose gold for £129.
