Topping Hane IEMs Launched With 16 Tuning Options

Hane is the latest in-ear monitor (IEM) from Topping's ArpegEar series.

Topping's Hane IEMs are the latest release from the brand's ArpegEar series. Although keenly priced, as all of Topping's offerings tend to be, the Hane has some lovely touches.

Firstly, the 3D-printed resin shell backplate of the Hane is finished with feather-like details, incorporating an effect similar to the traditional 'dian cui' technique. We're told to expect the backplate to display "a gem-like brilliance with beautiful changes in colour and shadow" as the light changes.

The Hane earphones are designed to ensure a secure and comfortable fit, even during extended wear. Meanwhile, Topping boasts that the 10mm DLC dynamic driver enhances high-frequency detail, expands dynamic range, and provides an exceptional transient response, with THD < 0.05%.

Topping states that Hane has a frequency response of 5Hz-35kHz combined with 115dB/Vrms sensitivity @1kHz and 80ohm +/-15% impendence @1kHz.

Hane sports PTC (Precision Tone Control) dip switches. The four independent switches can be flicked up or down using the provided tool similar to a SIM card ejector. The switches offer up to 16 tuning combinations to suit various audio environments. For example, if you need to reduce the ear canal coupling peak, simply activate switches 3 and 4 simultaneously to effectively attenuate the 6kHz region, optimising the overall listening experience.

Finally, alongside the six pairs of ear tips, the Hane in-ear headphones come with a 1.5m soft, tangle-resistant braided cable that features a 0.78mm 2-pin detachable design, making it convenient for users to replace and customise.

The Hane IEMs are available now, priced at £129.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
