Trigon Chronolog with ‘The Lot’

What started as a small business in Melbourne's Notting Hill in 2004, Class A Audio has evolved from a used hi-fi shop into a specialist retailer dealing in some of the very finest brands in Hi-Fi. In more recent years Class A Audio have also stepped into wholesale, being appointed the Trigon distributor for Australia.
Kevin You, head honcho at Class A Audio, called me over the long weekend very excited about a new product. "Marc, you must tell StereoNET readers about this" ... he continued, "it beats most of the sub $10,000 CD players and ripped filed playback even sounds better than the original CDs!".
The Chronolog he refers to very enthusiastically, is a high-end CD Player, CD/DVD Ripper, and Network Streamer, controllable from smartphones and tablets.
Let's face it, despite the growing popularity of high-res download sites and stores, many of us enthusiasts still have hundreds of CDs. This is where the Chronolog comes in. The Chronolog copies the music from the CD onto an internal solid state hard drive (SSD), and then plays it from there. So not only can you now store your CDs in storage, because of the bit-perfect ripping and jitter-free playback, your music will sound better than playback of the CD itself.
Storage capacity varies from 60Gb (around 150 albums) up to 960Gb (around 2250 albums). Chronolog also allows the connection of an external hard drive, as well as streaming from existing network attached storage (NAS) drives as well.
The Chronolog is compatible with just about every format known to man and audiophile, and the internal DAC features 192kHz/24Bit resolution, although details on the DAC itself are scarce.
Control and operation is performed via smartphones or tablets. Recommended is the iPad apparently due to speed and usability, however Chronolog can be controlled by any device using a browser supporting Javascript.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
