WiiM Amp Streaming Integrated Amplifier Announced

WiiM Amp is a 60WPC Class D amplifier that packs all the tech that has made WiiM such a breakthrough brand.
WiiM has announced its first streaming amplifier, WiiM Amp. WiiM Amp promises an impeccable audio experience with hi-res, lossless quality, multiroom functionality, and connectivity to many cutting-edge technologies.
The WiiM Amp enables you to hook up your regular passive Hi-Fi speakers to this 60 Watt per channel (8 ohms - 120WPC into 4 ohms) compact Class D-powered streaming amplifier while enjoying the streaming capabilities that WiiM has already become famous for - here, that means 24-bit/192 kHz of gapless playback via an ESS Sabre premium DAC. Furthermore, thanks to the analogue stereo RCAs alongside an Optical port and HDMI ARC, you can add your CD player or even a record player if it has a partnering phono stage.
Dr. Lifeng Zhao, CEO of WiiM, told StereoNET:
With valuable user feedback and our team's commitment to superior audio quality, the WiiM Amp delivers audiophile-grade sound and a seamless experience for music enthusiasts to unlock a world of musical possibilities.
As well as speaker posts that accept banana plugs, the WiiM Amp offers automatic bass management through its subwoofer output. Meanwhile, the 32-bit HyperStream DAC architecture boasts a Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) of 135 dB (A-wt) and a Total Harmonic Distortion plus Noise (THD+N) of -120 dB across sample rates from 44.1k to 192k, courtesy of its ultra-low noise clock and optimised power and circuit design.
The WiiM Amp can be used as a USB host for storage and become a media server for other WiiM devices, such as WiiM Pro and the Applause Award-winning WiiM Pro Plus, which can also easily be paired for a seamless smart-home experience.
On top of its Wi-Fi connectivity, further wireless smarts include Bluetooth 5.0 with BLE that supports both A2DP receiver and transmitter, AVRCP, and HID and works with the WiiM Voice Remote. Since the latter works with Siri, Alexa, and Google, you can choose your favourite voice assistants to control music selection, volume, and playback.
Streaming support includes Apple AirPlay 2, Google Chromecast, Alexa Music Cast, Deezer, Qobuz, Pandora, DLNA, Spotify Connect, and TIDAL HiFi and HiFi+. Additionally, you can cast YouTube Music, TV audio, radio stations, podcasts and local content directly from your favourite Chromecast-enabled App.
Roon Ready certification is expected soon, and thanks to automatic OTA updates, the WiiM Amp will continue improving with time.
The WiiM Amp is available from the end of this month in silver or Space Grey, priced at £299/ €349.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
