AEQUO AUDIO STILLA SPEAKER COMING TO AUSTRALIA

Debuting at this year’s High End Show in Munich next week is the Stilla speaker from Netherlands based audio specialists, Aequo Audio.
The new model coincides with the appointment of Australian distributor, Pure Music Group to represent the brand locally.
Stylistically a stunner, the Stilla’s slimly profiled and angled cabinet is bound to look a treat for the eyes in any living room, let alone an audio show.
As for the sound, the Stilla builds on the pedigree of the brand’s inaugural, award-winning model called the Ensis. And like the Ensis, the Stilla is said to boast a full range sound with a holographic soundstage.
The semi-active Stilla is built entirely by hand using exotic materials such as Scandinavian plywood, high stiffness artificial stone, and aerospace grade billet CNC aluminium.
As for its impeccable finish, Aequo Audio says the Stilla is highly customisable so its colour will match with every smart living environment.
The outstanding spatial audio qualities of the Stilla has much to do with its use of a time coherent tweeter with an acoustic lens that fully integrates seamlessly with an in-phase midbass and subwoofer alignment.
Aequo Audio says the cabinets have very little diffraction thanks to the Stilla’s slim size, curved sides and the use of high-density sheep wool placed behind the front hood.
The Stilla is also said to be dynamically alive thanks to its high linear excursion drivers that include two 7-inch subwoofers.
These very fast to respond, compact drivers are aided by a low order crossover filter and closed enclosures. A design approach ensuring minimal group delay in the crossover band.
Being a hybrid model, the Stilla has a passive treble and midrange while all the heavy low-frequency wallop is provided by the 7-inch active subwoofers powered by their built-in N-Core amplifiers.
The Stilla’s passive drivers are efficient and easy to drive. Impedance is 8ohms and the frequency response 14-35,000 Hz.
Aequo Audio will debut in Munich next week, supported by New Zealand music server specialists, Antipodes Audio.
Aequo Audio Stilla will be available in Australia later this year and will sell for $28,700 RRP.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
