ASTELL&KERN; A&ULTIMA; SP1000M DAP: LIGHTWEIGHT LAPIS DANCER

Astell&Kern introduces their new A&ultima SP1000M music player featuring everything you expect from A&K but in a smaller, lighter package.

Blue is my favourite colour, but it is more than the A&ultima SP1000M' Lapis Blue finish that catches the eye. The player shared its bold industrial design with the company's other players and, no doubt, their magical sound quality.

Both smaller and lighter than its SP1000 sibling due to its aluminium construction and new 4.1-inch touchscreen display, it will offer its owner the very finest in portable audio.

Astell&Kern A&ultima SP1000M

As you would expect from Astell&Kern, class-leading sound quality is a given. Packed with the latest technologies and features, the 200g  A&ultima SP1000M delivers the same masterful sound just like its predecessor. Powered by dual AK4497EQ DAC chips from Asahi Kasei, each dedicated to a single stereo channel, the SP1000M boasts high-resolution and three-dimensional audio. Also under the hood is an octa-core CPU for faster and seamless performance.

The SP1000M supports a max resolution of 32bit/384kHz for PCM files and native playback of DSD256 files. 128GB of onboard memory can be further augmented up to 528GB via microSD card. Completing the package is a USB 3.0 (C type) for fast charging and swift data transfer.

A&ultima SP1000M will be available worldwide in October at an SRP of £1,999.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
